Maternity Dresses

When you are pregnant there are many different options for accentuating your beautiful baby bump, one the classics that have been utilised by expecting women for centuries are maternity dresses.

Hideous - Anti-radiation Maternity Dresses

Women in Asia like to wear maternity dresses which are made of anti-radiation material – in case they are standing too near to a microwave or if you work in a nuclear powerplant or something (well I really don’t know why else you would wear one). But let me tell you, wearing one of these things for 9 months is a selfless act – why do say this? Because these dresses (if you can call them that) are absolutely hideous and in my opinion I would rather just stand away from the microwave for 9 months :-) .

Thank god this fad has remained in the east and not made it’s way to western cultures – could you imagine having to where this dress for 9 months in alternating colours?

Luckily we now have a variety of styles of maternity dresses available to us including:

  • Custom Wedding dresses
  • Jumper dresses – these hug the belly very well and can be worn in Winter with a pair of tights and boots.
  • Wrap dresses – embrace your inner zen! These are my favourite style of maternity wear – either in a a top or a dress the wrap style is always a winner.
  • Flowing dresses – what do I mean here? You know the dresses that pinch in just under the bust and then flow through to the feet – this is a great design for formal dresses when pregnant.
  • Maxi-dress – There are some great maxi dresses that are available, as they are in fashion at the moment, there are many designs that will fit nicely (without being specifically maternity dresses).
There are many options out there for expecting mums, many of these option may already be hiding in the back of your wardrobe, so make sure you browse through some of your older dresses and you might find a gem of a dress that hugs your belly and the bubs just right.
